Yoga Meditation

The word, Yoga is defined by Merriam Webster as:

1:  a Hindu theistic philosophy teaching the suppression of all activity of body, mind, and will in order that the self may realize its distinction from them and attain liberation

2: a system of exercises for attaining bodily or mental control and well-being

yo·gic \-gik\ adjective often capitalized

The word, Yoga is defined by the Encarta Dictionary as:

1: a Hindu discipline that promotes spiritual unity with a supreme being through a system of postures and rituals

2: a system or set of breathing exercises and postures derived from or based on Hindu yoga

At Waves of Bliss and PTE Mystery School, we work with both definitions of Yoga; a) as a spiritual discipline and b) as a tool, in the form of various physical exercises.

Our purpose for applying Yoga, Yogic disciplines and Yoga Meditations is indeed to create healing and wholeness which spreads into all aspects of our lives; body, mind, soul and spirit.

Some of the Yoga Meditational exercises recommended in four of the courses offered at PTE Mystery School are offered here for your perusal. To fully participate in and receive complete benefits of Yoga Meditational Exercises, please refer to the following PTE MS Level I courses:

Excerpt from: Five Body System I, The Gateways of Universal Consciousness

Course description: This course explains the purpose, significance, function, location and qualities of each of the energy bodies which constitute our Five Body System. It further explains the importance of their role in cocooning the physical body and offers meditational techniques to awaken them and through them connect the consciousness of the body to the higher realms.

What is the Five Body System? Our physical body is the vehicle for our soul to experience life in physical matter and is immensely precious and invaluable. Yet our physical body is only a small part of a conglomerate of energy bodies which together make up our Five Body System. When we connect the physical body with these energy bodies we can roam the universe and cosmos and retrieve the Light, power, knowledge and wisdom, which are our Divine Heritage, to apply to our mundane world.

Course Purpose: The purpose of this course is to work with your physical body to become receptive and able to connect to the higher bodies. These higher bodies are energy bodies which encapsulate and cocoon our physical body. For as long as we remain disconnected from these higher bodies, we are incapable of using our full potential as true human beings, as true God-Beings. These energy bodies remain dormant and unused for as long as we are unaware of their presence around us. Once the physical body becomes receptive, we will begin to connect with these energy bodies and higher levels of our own self. Through connection we will begin to illuminate these energy bodies and bring them out of their dormant state.

Many people wonder why they are unable to connect to the realms to see and hear the Guides and receive guidance. There are many factors involved in the process of opening the Third Eye and awakening the ability to see and hear what transpires in the inner realms. Among these, the awakening and connection to our spiritual energy bodies ranks the highest. For as long as we remain disconnected from these higher bodies, we are incapable of using the full potential of our Five Body System. Our conscious awareness and focused attention on these energy bodies, through the exercises given in this course, will further activate these energy bodies. When awakened, we become aware of the Mysteries hidden in the higher realms. Access to the secrets will ultimately help us become greater God-Beings functioning on Earth and expanding our awareness of the vastness of the Macrocosm.

How will you benefit from this course? Our conscious awareness and focused attention on these energy bodies, through the exercises given in this course, will further activate these energy bodies and lead to a harmonious communion between us, as the Microcosm and the world as the Macrocosm. While unawakened to these Higher Bodies and Higher Aspects of the Self, we are only able to sense and function in the mundane world around us. When awakened, through these energy bodies, we become aware of the Mysteries hidden in the higher realms and access the secrets which will ultimately help us become greater God-Beings functioning on Earth. Then our awareness of the vastness of the Macrocosm will grow.

In these higher realms, thoughts are manifested with greater speed, even instantaneously, hence the parable, “Thoughts are things.” For any event to become a reality, a series of Seed Thought forms are necessary. These seeds are originally held in the higher realms and retrieved through our energy bodies which are connected to these realms. When we connect to our energy bodies, we can manifest the object of our desires and co-create the reality which best suit us at will. This we do with the help of meditational exercises which awaken and connect our physical body to our energy bodies and from our energy bodies to the higher realms and great beings who reside in these realms, such as our Guides, Angelic Forces and Ascended Masters.

Introduction

The purpose of this course is first, to bring our attention to the presence of the energy bodies which extend beyond our physical body, then to activate and illuminate these energy bodies in order to connect them to our physical body for optimal function of the entire Five Body System. Meantime, we must prepare the physical body to become sensitive to these energy bodies and receptive to connecting with them.

Therefore, we begin this course with a series of short and gentle physical exercises and yoga postures called Asanas and then continue with breathing exercises called Pranayamas. Sri Karunamayi, a living Master who tours the world giving her teachings and her Light, says that when the Chakras are unopened, they are in sleeping state. They are like unopened buds. Breathing exercises open up the chakras and help to activate them in a natural way. Activating the chakras naturally can bring peace, health, prosperity and joy to our lives. (Karunamayi, May 21, 2009, Washington, DC)

Karunamayi says our digestive system is probably the most abused part of our body since we constantly keep moving food and drinks through this system. She further states that there are negative fumes and gases which are produced in our body because of what we eat and the way we overtax our digestive system. This can produce discomfort and sickness if not addressed. Pain, fear, anger and all manner of negative emotions can be caused by the types of food we eat and the habits we develop in the process. Fasting can be a great way to give the digestive system a break and attain optimum results. Karunamayi suggests fasting on the three days around the full moon, as the full moon has a direct impact on our bodies. The full moon has a great affect on the bodies of water of earth and it is natural that we would feel as impacted, since over 80% of our body is water.

The objective of using gentle stretching exercises, yoga postures and breathing pranayamas is to help heal the body and expand the capacity of the body to connect and communicate with its energy bodies. The breathing exercises coupled with the gentle stretches can also help to release the toxic fumes from our body, expand the capacity of our lungs, strengthen our spinal column and our nervous system and help open the channels of Light which hold the energy bodies within.

In Sanskrit, breathing exercises are called “Pranayama.” Prana means Life Force. Our breath is our Life Force. Without breath there is no Life Force moving through the body. The concept of Prana is more than just filling our lungs with oxygen, it encompasses the air we breathe, together with the “will to breathe” to become the Life Force which moves through us and makes us Human-Kind, God-mankind.

Course Instructions

This course has been designed to combine physical exercises and breathing with meditational exercises. We are activating the etheric, emotional, mental and spiritual energy bodies through meditation while we are awakening the physical body to be receptive to this activation. There will be a period of learning and practicing the stretching and breathing until you can perform the movements correctly and with ease. This may take a day or two or a week for those new to yoga positions.

Once you can perform the stretching and breathing exercises, we recommend that you perform all exercises, the stretching, breathing and meditation in one contiguous session for a minimum of three days. After this three day period you should be able to visualize your Five Body System fully activated.

Thereafter, we recommend that you keep checking your Five Body System during the day and night to insure that each cocoon is well defined and it is sparkling and bright in the correct colors. When you check in and visualize your Five Body System, if it is not up to par, perform the meditation to bring it back to perfection and reinforce it.

Stretching the body with Yoga Postures or Asanas

The following are descriptions of the five yoga postures or asanas recommended for this course. While they are simple stretching exercises, each one is chosen with the view to activate, generate, refresh and revive parts of your body to facilitate the connection and awakening of the energy bodies with greater ease. A brief description of each movement together with pictures of each pose is provided in each section. Please review each movement before you begin to exercise. While these are gentle and easy exercises, you may consult with your physician if you have questions or concerns about your ability to safely perform the movements.

It may take time to be able to perform the stretching exercises fully, as described. Therefore, be very gentle with yourself, start slow and monitor your body during the movements. Try not to put any part of your body under stress. With each repetition, your body becomes more supple and receptive to the stretches. You will see the results even from one round of exercises to the next. Gentleness is the key. Love your body as you stretch and let go of all judgment regarding your performance.

It is best to wear loose fitting clothing that will not inhibit your movements, but you can perform these exercises in any clothing, anywhere.

Asana 1: Stretching the whole body while standing. Stand up straight with your feet together and your arms at your sides. Slowly stretch your hands up in front of your body to above your head. Ease your arms up even farther, stretching your shoulders as you reach up. Gently start to bend down from your waist until you touch your toes with the fingers and touch your nose to your knees (or as close as you can, without discomfort). Place your fingers under your toes and hold that position for a few seconds.  If you have difficulty reaching to your toes, then spread your feet apart until your hands can reach the ground and your nose comes as close to your knees as possible without discomfort. Over time, when your body becomes accustomed to the stretching, you can gradually bring your feet closer together.

Slowly lift your head and shoulders back up to the standing position and finally, lower your hands back down to your side. Relax for a few seconds and repeat.

Important: Inhale as you stretch up and exhale as you bend down. Breathing while you perform each exercise is extremely important. Rest in standing poses for a few seconds.

Breathing Exercises

Hand postures or mudras: Before we begin with the breathing exercises, it is important to learn hand positions, also known as mudras.

Mudras (pronounced mood-ra) are hand postures. The fingers and palms of the hands can strengthen our physical and energy bodies as each hand is a full body map. This means that energy centers which move energy through various organs of our bodies are represented in our hands. Oriental Medicine calls these the meridian points and the channel through which the energy runs is called a meridian line and Aurvedic Medicine calls these centers “Nadis”.

More than 80,000 Nadis are represented on our Sushumna (soo-shoom-na) which is a Column of Light along our spinal column which connects our physical body to the higher energy bodies. The Meridian line for our Sushumna and spinal column runs on the outside of every thumb, from the tip to where the wrist begins.

Chin Mudra: By placing your thumb and index finger together you make a small circle. Do this with both hands and let the three remaining fingers extend straight and comfortably. This small circle formed by the thumb and index finger creates a circuit of Light which illuminates the spinal column, the chakras of the body and the entire Five Body System (consisting of the physical body and the four higher energy bodies). When we sit to meditate or do breathing exercises and place our hands in chin mudra, all these circuits connect, illuminate and activate. The energy moves from our heads to our arms reaching from both sides into our Heart Chakra at the center of our chest. Then it spreads up and down the Sushumna Column to activate the energy bodies and to the spinal column to activate the physical body.

Excerpt from: Five Body System II

In our energy bodies we accumulate the experiences of all the lifetimes we have lived in the physical body. The purpose of this course is to heal our energy bodies from the pain and dross collected from many lifetimes in physical embodiment.

The Spiritual Body, which is the Highest and the largest body and the outermost layer of the energy bodies, shuts down when the accumulated dross weighs it down, disconnecting us from the Higher Realms.

The Mental Body sums up the fears, disappointments and betrayals into a mistrusting mind and a disbelieving spirit which constantly warns us against accepting, trusting and believing in the goodness of others and the righteousness of the Universe.

The Emotional Body gathers all the memories of the heartaches, failures, mistakes and emotional trauma which can shut down the Heart Chakra and close the doors of communication with the Higher Cosmic Realms. It can also lead us to points where we feel incapacitated with emotional overload by making a mountain out of a mole hill, by creating sad and sorrowful dramas out of everyday events and situations and by being overly hard on ourselves.

The Etheric Body holds the memories of all the events and circumstances that we have gone through in past lives. It monitors the events as we experience them and holds the knowledge of all events and adventures which we may choose to experience in the future. The memories of past events can taint and influence out future choices. We rely heavily on our past experiences as we meet with our present and future challenges. Clearing the Etheric Body can turn our outlook to the future from one where we expect challenges to one where we face all circumstances with ease and grace.

All of the above weighs heavily on our Physical Body. We process all emotional, mental and spiritual experiences through our Physical Body as it is our only vehicle which enables us to function in the 3D world. It is therefore of utmost importance to clear these energy bodies from the weight of the pain and dross from eons of lifetimes, even if we are not consciously aware of them and the dross they carry. Ignorance of the presence of these energy bodies does not provide relief. In time the disease in our outer energy bodies will catch up to our physical body and manifest in sickness and ailments whose roots remain unknown and therefore uncured.

With this in view, we embark upon the clearing of the energy bodies in this course.

Goals of: Five Body System II

What can be achieved, once this clearing is fully and completely accomplished, is the following:

  • Release of physical pain and illness.
  • Release of emotional trauma and discomfort within ourselves.
  • Release of mental havoc and mayhem, fears and phobias whose origin may stem from this lifetime and/or many other previous lifetimes, unknown to us in the present.
  • Clearing of the Spiritual Body.
  • Reconnecting from the lower energy bodies to the Spiritual Body and through the Spiritual Body to our Spiritual Guides, Guardian Angels and Masters.
  • Illuminating the 5 Body System with the Highest Light it can hold at each moment in order to raise the Quotient of Light.
  • Advancement on the spiritual path to learn and understand our Divine Mission and to walk on the path to embody that mission.

It is the ultimate purpose of every incarnate soul to find their true purpose for being in physical embodiment. To pursue that purpose and to accomplish it we must become a clear and receptive vehicle of the Soul and our Higher Self. Our Higher Self and our Soul can only communicate with us and help us embark on our true purpose or Divine Mission when our energy bodies are receptive to their presence and their guidance. This course will give us the tools and point us in that direction.

Excerpt from: Chakra System I, The Key to the Inner Kingdom

Course description: This course explains the purpose, significance, function and location of the Chakra System. It further explains the significance of a fully functioning and awakened Chakra System compared to one which is shut down or malfunctioning. The natural qualities of each chakra are explained in detail to allow full understanding of the importance of the role of our chakra system and its impact in our bodies, in our lives and in our world.

In addition to giving you a broad understanding of your Chakra System, meditational exercises are offered which promote optimal function and operation of the entire chakra system.

What are chakras and why we need to fully awaken them: Chakras are the energy centers which connect our physical body to our energy bodies and the higher realms. As the microcosm, our physical body only represents the most plain and mundane aspect of our beingness. Awakening our chakras gives us the key to the macrocosm, the Inner Kingdom.

Purpose of this course: The purpose of this course is to help awaken and reconnect the microcosm of our physical body to the vastness of the macrocosm which it is a part of, thereby reuniting all aspects of our Self in Oneness.

A fully awakened chakra system can elevate us to be a greater Human Being, a God-Being, where our consciousness can reach and communicate with other God-Beings at higher levels of consciousness. From there we may retrieve the mysteries from the realms of the unknown and make them known to the masses.

Through this elevation, we are able to realize our Divine Purpose and stand as Beacons of Light, Illuminating the Path for all. As we gain momentum, we become instrumental in raising the consciousness of the planet and all souls to awaken to their Divine Purpose.

How will you benefit from this course? Through a conscious understanding of our Chakra System and through the exercises given in this course, you will further activate and perfect the function of these energy centers in your body. Your physical body will begin to function in consort with these centers giving you more vitality and vigor in the material world as well as the inner world and the skills to apply the power held within to the world outside.

Physical Exercises: Stretching the body with Yoga Pastures or Asanas

In Sanskrit, all physical body exercises are called yoga asanas. It is important to take your time and fully embrace these postures with gentleness and ease.

The following is a description of the five yoga asanas recommended for this course. While they are simple stretching exercises, each one is chosen with the view to activate, generate, refresh and revive your body. They are also meant to facilitate the connection and awakening of the energy bodies with greater ease. A brief description of each movement together with pictures of each pose is provided in each section. Please review each movement before you begin to exercise. While these are gentle and easy exercises, you may consult with your physician if you have questions or concerns about your ability to safely perform the movements.

It may take time to be able to perform the stretching exercises fully as described.

Breathing

Control of Breath with Yoga Breathing or Prana Yamas: In Sanskrit, breathing exercises are called “Pranayama.” Prana means Life Force. Our breath is our Life Force. Without breath there is no Life Force moving through the body. The concept of Prana is more than just filling our lungs with oxygen, it encompasses the air we breathe together with the “will to breathe” to become the Life Force which moves through us and makes us Human-Kind, God-mankind.

Positioning the hands and fingers to connect the entire body as a circuit
